Fall 2009 Afterschool Program

This semester's Artbotics program for high school students begins this week on October 1st. The program will run for 10 weeks and meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:45-5:00pm. Check back for updates!

New location: The Revolving Museum's new address is 122 Western Avenue, Lowell, MA 01851. We will be working in their lab spaces located on the fourth floor.

 The Artbotics middle school

has come and gone!

Two 1-week Artbotics workshop sessions were held this August for students entering 7th and 8th grade in the Fall. Session one ran August 3-7 and session two from August 10-14. Click here for more information!

Artbotics is:

  • Learning about computer science and robotics by creating interactive, public exhibits.
  • A collaboration between UMass Lowell's Computer Science & Art departments with the Revolving Museum (located in downtown Lowell, MA).
  • An 8-week summer program piloted by a group of Lowell HS graduates and UMass Lowell students.
  • A four-credit undergraduate course open to anyone at UMass Lowell (first offered Spring 2007).
  • An after-school workshop for students of Lowell Public High School.
  • A set of materials and approaches for building cool stuff.
  • A project supported by the National Science Foundation (CNS-0540564), as part of the Broadening Participation in Computing program.

  • May 29, 2009 -- The Artbotics Spring 2009 after school program is showcasing its latest creation at The Revolving Museum from 7-9pm as part of the second rotation of the "Show and Tell" exhibition.
  • March 10, 2009 -- The Artbotics Spring 2009 after school program starts. All participants meet at The Revolving Museum!
  • February 12, 2009 -- Opening reception for the Fall 2008 afterschool program as part of the "Show and Tell: The Art of the Narrative" exhibition at The Revolving Museum, 7-9pm.
  • January 29, 2009 -- The Revolving Museum has been granted a Google RISE award to run an Artbotics middle school program this Summer!
